Staff Picks: Thankful for Our Peers
By Sarah Cox
November 2, 2016
November is a time for thanksgiving, especially for thanking our fellow students of Central High School. This month is the time to thank them for everything they have done for us. So, who are you most thankful for?
Sarah Cox - I am most thankful for my friends: Kayley Siler, Stevie Makres, Grace Cochran, and Bailey Lemons. We have all helped each other through some tough times and have stuck together through all of it. They know exactly how to cheer me up after a hard day by making me laugh with an old picture, or just laugh in general, and for that I am thankful.
Brooke Flatford - I am thankful for my younger sister, Cameron. We are only two years apart, so I don’t remember a time when she wasn’t around. She is one of my best friends and is hilarious in every way. We do fight all the time, but we are always laughing at the end of the day.
Marcus Hixenbaugh- I would have to say I’m thankful for my teammates. Playing on a team you begin to get close with all the guys you play with. Everybody is just super funny, and we can never stay mad at each other for long because we are with each other constantly.
Kelly Fox - I am thankful for my two best friends, Brianna Bench and Abigayle DeBusk. They make everyday fun no matter what else has happened during that day. We’ve been close all through high school, and they have made it a blast.
Adrianna Sumlin- One of the things I am thankful for is my best friend Jayruiana Jones who is still my right hand man even though I may have a loud mouth.
Lexi Cardwell - My best friend of 3 years, Alexis Hinton, is always there for me. We do everything together and never go a day without talking to each other, whether it be in person, texting, or snapchatting. We always walk to class together, go to church on wednesdays, and hang out over the weekends. I’m thankful for her constant support and all the laughs we share.
Nancy Wanjiru- I am thankful for my best friend Syrus Shell. He is the brother I never had. We have gone through a lot but he is always there to make me laugh no matter what went wrong. We might not share the same DNA but we are family.
Jadarius Sackie- I am thankful for my bro Loius (Dewy) McNair. He has been my friend since the first day I came to central. We stay in the same neighborhood and play football together.
Eli French- I am grateful to have a friend like Tyler Bloomfield. I have never seen him upset or angry, his mood is always upbeat and cheerful. It is so hard to be angry or sad around him because he is constantly happy. He’s just a great person to be around that is a reliable friend.
Jack Wiggers- Phillip Clabough and Jarod Richardson have been my friends since the seventh grade. They have always been two of my go to guys at Central. Jarod and I continually crack jokes with each other, even in our AP classes.
Alison Posadas- I am most thankful for my boyfriend, Jacob O’Connor. On November 15th we will have dated for exactly 9 months. I am thankful for him out of everyone I know because (other than I’m dating him) I can get easily stressed over school and other situations and he calms me down. Not to mention I have fun whenever I am able to hangout with him and I don’t know what’d be like to not have him around.
Riley Cardwell- Logan Williams is a rare breed of student; a natural leader with a superb dedication to her craft, singing. In AP Music Theory, Logan helps me understand the intricacies of writing and singing music. Not to mention, Logan comes into class everyday with a smile on her face. Her presence immediately brightens the mood of any classroom whether it be our Music Theory or Literature class. In addition, she unknowingly challenges me to be a more insightful student. In Literature class, Logan always provides the most thoughtful commentary on the day’s discussion, challenging me to think in a different way. I am thankful for her relentless dedication to becoming a better student and a better person.
Kirsten Christian- I am thankful for my friends, Sarah Dalton, Rhiannon Lucas, Arden Miller, Shelby Fox, Alex Warwick and George Dodson. They all mean so much to me and lately we’ve all been getting closer and making memories as a group, and it’s really great.
Anna Howard- I am thankful for my best friend Keagan Cross. She is a sophomore at Central that I met in French class one year ago. She is constantly encouraging me to experience new things and embrace who I am, and she provides me with a steady, supportive hand throughout the school day.
