In my previous story on ISIS, I covered whether or not the U.S felt that ISIS was a threat after they began to suspect that malls in the U.S would be attacked by ISIS. To read this story [click here].
In recent months, the U.S is currently making air strikes against ISIS whom are currently trying to recruit members. CNN reported in February, President Obama declared that he felt we were ready to use military force against ISIS. Obama stated that he does not want another ground war in the middle east, but would prefer air strikes against ISIS. He proposed that it would be a long fight, but we (the U.S) will come out on top.
American airstrikes are currently happening in the middle east as the U.S tries to reclaim countries from ISIS, although many feel that this is not what the president promised as he said he would keep our soldiers out of the war. Although, Obama did say that it would take time to pull out all of our soldiers.
Many U.S citizens and citizens of other countries are being recruited or propositioned by ISIS militants to become a part of ISIS. Recently, an Australian model, Jama, was killed while fighting for ISIS. CNN reports that his family knew nothing of what was going on. CNN stated that the family was in continuous contact with Jama who acted as if life was normal; they found out by a report from Australia which stated the number of Australians working with ISIS.
A 14 year old teen was arrested in the U.K for suspicions of working with ISIS for an alleged act of Terrorism, he was connected with teens in Australia whom were planning a counter-terror attack. The teen had at first been released for the suspicion of working with ISIS before he was taken back to jail for the conspiracy with the Australian teens.
Minnesota says that they currently have a terror recruiting problem. NBC reports that six men from Minnesota have been charged with plotting to go to Syria and help ISIS, this was announced by the federal authorities. This was the result of a 10-month investigation, in which they believe shows that anyone can be an ISIS recruiter including your best friend, brother or cousin.
The White House is currently pledging over $200 million in humanitarian aid to Iraq for people fighting in the war against ISIS, the idea is presented that it will be a long and hard fight but ISIS will be defeated.
