The Central track team are working on a lot as the season begins including the boys relay team and the distance team. The boys relay team is coached by Coach Longhill and the distance is coached by Mr. Fox. Their goal this season is to improve every athlete's personal record and score as many points as possible in a meet.
Senior member Kelly Fox was quoted as saying “As for being a senior, I'm really hoping to go out with a bang. I'm trying to qualify for two events in regionals this year (3200m and 1600m), instead of just one, which has been the 1600. I'm hoping to really break some personal records, and I hope that our team will work together to support each other, even though we all run different events.”
The season officially started in February with the first two events being on March 4 and 25 and the next event is at home on April 4 against Halls. The events the teams compete in include both boys and girls sprint group (100, 200, 4x100,4x200), long distance (800,1600,3200) , throwing (shotput, discus), and the specialty events ( long jump, high jump, Hurdles).
All of the coaches push the athletes incredibly hard to be their best and it shows on and off the field. Keeping that in mind it should be a good show and hopefully they can pull the out the win in every event. Don’t forget to go watch and support your fellow bobcats!!!
